Every guest-friendly hotel list for Pattaya makes the same promise and most of them are copied from each other. This one is built differently. Every hotel below is tagged with how we know its policy: confirmed on our own list, confirmed by the hotel in writing, or listed as guest-friendly by specialist directories without the terms being published. Where a hotel charges, or where the picture is murky, we say so instead of leaving it off.
If you are new to the term: a guest-friendly hotel lets a visitor who is not registered to your room come up and stay overnight without charging you for it. A joiner fee is what the others charge instead. In Pattaya this matters to a large share of visitors, the hotels know it, and most mid-range properties in the nightlife zones have built their policies around it.

“Our list” means the hotel is marked confirmed on our own hotel pages. “Hotel confirmed” means the property has stated the policy in writing and the wording is public. “Directory-listed” means the hotel appears on specialist guest-friendly directories but we have not seen the hotel’s own wording. Policies change, staff change, and a busy front desk on New Year’s Eve is not a policy document; if it matters to your trip, ask before you book. The section on how to ask is further down.
What Guest-Friendly and Joiner Fee Actually Mean
A joiner is anyone who comes to your room who is not registered as a guest. A joiner policy is the hotel’s rules for them. A guest-friendly hotel (also called girl-friendly or joiner-friendly) lets one joiner stay overnight at no charge. A joiner fee is what non-guest-friendly hotels charge for the same thing, typically 500 to 1,500 THB per person per night in Pattaya, though a few hotels quote more and a few simply refuse.
Most Pattaya hotels are, in practice, guest-friendly. The city’s mid-range hotel stock was built for single male travellers and the owners are not naive about why people come. The exceptions cluster at two ends: the big family-oriented beach resorts, which charge or refuse to protect their image, and a handful of budget places that charge because they can.
Even at guest-friendly hotels there are standard conditions, and almost every written policy we have seen includes some version of them:
- One visitor free. The free allowance is one unregistered guest when you are booked into a double room. A second visitor at the same time, or a third person in the room, is charged, usually 500 to 1,000 THB.
- ID at the front desk. The visitor hands over a Thai ID card or passport at reception and gets it back on leaving. This is for the hotel’s security and yours; hotels that skip it are not doing you a favour. If your visitor does not have an original ID on her, most hotels will not let her upstairs. Photocopies are not accepted.
- Minimum age. Between 18 and 21 depending on the hotel. Most say 20.
- One per day at some hotels. A few properties, Flipper Lodge among them, allow one visitor per day. Others allow more as long as they come one at a time.
- No restriction on who. Written policies say “visitor”, and where they are specific they say women and ladyboys are treated the same. Hilton’s policy states this explicitly.
By Area
Beach Road and Central Pattaya
The best-known guest-friendly hotels in Pattaya are on or just behind Beach Road, and this is where the luxury end of the list lives.
Hilton Pattaya is the one everyone asks about, because a five-star hotel above a shopping mall does not look like a place that welcomes visitors at 2am. It does. The hotel’s policy is no joiner fee, ID deposited at the front desk and returned on departure, and no limit on the number of visitors over a stay. If your visitor wants breakfast at Edge, it is 550 THB. The Hilton is not a place where visitors are waved through without a glance, but the process is discreet and the staff have seen it all.
Holiday Inn Pattaya on Beach Road near Soi 6 has confirmed in writing that unregistered guests are allowed without charge, ID at reception. It is a large, busy, very well-reviewed hotel with a family clientele by day and no apparent issue with what its guests do by night.
Hard Rock Hotel is guest-friendly with no fee, and the pool scene makes it one of the more fun places in the city to have a visitor stay over. Siam@Siam in North Pattaya is the design-hotel option, also no fee, with the rooftop bar as a built-in first stop. Avani Pattaya Resort is listed as guest-friendly with no fee by the directories; we have not seen the wording, so confirm when you book.
Behind Beach Road, AYA Boutique Hotel in the City Walk alley allows one visitor free, minimum age 20, and charges 1,000 THB for a third person. Mera Mare at the north end has the same shape of policy with a minimum age of 18. Flipper Lodge, fifty metres from the beach, allows one visitor per day free, minimum age 20; that “per day” is worth noting if your plans are ambitious. Natural Beach Hotel is the budget pick in this zone.
Further back towards Second Road, Areca Lodge on Soi Diana is a long-standing favourite and has the clearest written policy of any hotel we know: maximum two people in a double room, one visitor free, 500 THB per additional person, minimum age 20, ID required. Hotel Baraquda Heeton, Acqua Hotel and Adelphi are all confirmed no-fee on our list and sit within a few minutes’ walk of each other and of Soi Buakhao.
The Classroom deserves its own line: it is guest-friendly, and it has a separate entrance that visitors can use if either of you would rather not walk through the lobby. No other hotel in Pattaya that we know of offers that.
Soi Buakhao and LK Metro
This is where a lot of Pattaya’s long-stay visitors base themselves, and the hotels are built around the nightlife on the doorstep.
LK Metropole is the anchor: right on Soi LK Metro, one visitor free, 500 THB each for additional visitors at the same time, and no fuss. The LK group runs several hotels in the area and LK Royal Suite is listed as guest-friendly too. Debua Hotel on Soi Buakhao itself is confirmed no-fee on our list. Walking Street and South Pattaya
Closer to Walking Street the hotels get older and cheaper, and the guest-friendly question mostly answers itself. Grand Hotel is confirmed no-fee on our list and a two-minute walk from the Walking Street arch. P72 Hotel is the budget option in the same position.
Soi 6
Most hotels within a short walk of Soi 6 allow visitors, but this is also where the one hotel with an inconsistent reputation sits. Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel does allow joiners, but guests report a 1,000 THB fee being applied some nights and not others. Ask at check-in what the policy is that week, and get the answer from the front desk manager rather than whoever is on shift. Our hotels near Soi 6 guide has more options in that area.
Jomtien
We do not yet have a confirmed guest-friendly hotel in Jomtien. Most of the mid-range hotels along Jomtien Beach Road and Thappraya Road are guest-friendly in practice, and the area’s quieter, more residential character means the policies tend to be relaxed rather than written down. But “in practice” is not “confirmed”, so we are not listing names until we have them. Ask before you book, and see the Jomtien area guide for where to stay.
Hotels That Charge, or Say No
The other side of the list is just as useful.
The large family resorts in Pattaya do not appear on any verified guest-friendly list, and there is a reason. Centara Grand Mirage, the Royal Cliff hotels, Cape Dara, the InterContinental and the Marriott are built for families and conferences and price their rooms accordingly. Some will register a visitor for a fee, which at this level tends to be 1,000 to 1,500 THB or more, some will decline, and none of them advertise the policy. If you are booking one of these because it is a beautiful resort and you may or may not have company, email first and expect the answer to be a fee.
The same goes for the newer upscale towers in Central Pattaya, Grande Centre Point and Mytt among them. Neither is on a verified list. That does not mean no, but it means ask.
At the budget end, a small number of guesthouses charge 300 to 500 THB per visitor simply because their guests are short-stay and the fee is easy money. These are not worth naming individually; they change constantly. If a place under 800 THB a night does not say “guest-friendly” somewhere in its listing, assume a fee until you have asked.
What Actually Happens at the Front Desk
The process at a guest-friendly hotel is the same almost everywhere, and knowing it in advance removes the awkwardness.
You arrive together. Your visitor goes to reception, hands over her Thai ID card, and the staff note her details against your room number. Sometimes she is given a visitor card or a receipt for the ID; sometimes it is simply held in a drawer. She gets the ID back when she leaves, whether that is at 3am or after breakfast. At a few hotels the ID goes in a safety box and you are given the key.
If she does not have an ID card with her, the hotel will not let her up. This is not negotiable at any hotel we know of, and it is a good rule; it means the hotel knows who is in the building. It also means you should ask before you leave the bar, not in the lobby.
Breakfast is for registered guests. Some hotels, the Hilton among them, will sell a visitor breakfast at the restaurant price. Many mid-range hotels will quietly let it go if she is with you. Do not assume either.
Nobody at a guest-friendly hotel will comment, judge or treat your visitor as anything other than a guest. That is the whole point of choosing one.
How to Ask a Hotel Before You Book
If a hotel is not on this list, or you want to be certain, ask. Hotels in Pattaya get this question dozens of times a week and answer it plainly.
The most reliable channel is the message function on Agoda or Booking.com after you have made a booking with free cancellation, or an email to the hotel directly. Keep it to two lines:
I am booking a double room for one person from [dates]. Do you allow an unregistered visitor to stay overnight in the room, and is there a joiner fee? Thank you.
You will get one of three answers: no fee and a note about ID; a fee and the amount; or a no. All three are useful. Phoning works too, but written answers are better if the night staff later disagree.
Do not ask on the hotel’s Facebook page or in a public review. Do ask before the free-cancellation window closes.
Booking Tips
- Book a double, not a single. The free-visitor allowance is tied to double occupancy. A single room with a single bed may mean a charge even at a guest-friendly hotel.
- Set occupancy to two if the price is the same. Some booking sites let you do this at no extra cost, and it removes any argument about a second person in the room.
- Choose a room with a safe and use it. Passport, spare cards, most of your cash. This is standard advice for Pattaya, not a comment on anyone in particular.
- Walking distance matters at 2am. A hotel five minutes from Walking Street or LK Metro is worth more than a nicer one twenty minutes away by baht bus.
- Do not confuse “guest-friendly” with “anything goes”. These are ordinary hotels with a sensible visitor policy. Noise complaints, damage and unregistered visitors who skip the front desk are handled the way any hotel would handle them.

Final Thoughts
The guest-friendly question is one of the few things about a Pattaya hotel that a booking site will not tell you, and one of the few that can ruin a night if you get it wrong. The list above is as honest as we can make it: confirmed where we have confirmation, flagged where we do not, and clear about the hotels that charge.
Pick a hotel from the list in the area you will actually be spending your nights, book a double, and let the front desk do its job. It is a system that has worked in this city for forty years.
