An unverified profile of a foreign man in Pattaya looks like every scam and every married-man-on-holiday account they have learned to ignore. Two warnings. First, it is a trial in the usual app-store sense: it converts to a paid monthly subscription when the seven days end unless you cancel. Set a calendar reminder for day six, because the monthly price is the most expensive way to buy Premium. Second, the offer is tied to the app, so if you only ever use the website you may never see it.
Used properly, the trial is a free week of the full product. For a two-week holiday that is half your trip covered.
What Happened When Premium Was On
The difference was immediate. With Premium active and the verified badge on the profile, I had more women writing to me first in a single evening than I have had in months on Tinder or Bumble in Germany. Not likes, not matches sitting in a queue — actual messages, opening conversations.

In practice, once you have read twenty profiles you can call it from the profile alone most of the time.

If you are looking for something else, you need to filter hard, and a different age bracket or a daytime-only approach would cut the freelancer share considerably.

- 12 months: around $100–120, which is $8–10 a month
Payment goes through the app store if you subscribe in the app, or by card on the website. The website price is sometimes slightly lower because it avoids the app-store cut; worth comparing before you commit to a year.
For a holiday, take the trial and, if you want more, one month. For anyone spending months a year in Thailand the annual plan is the obvious choice. For anyone in between, three months covers a long winter stay.
ThaiFriendly vs Tinder and Bumble at Home
The honest comparison is not between ThaiFriendly and other Thai apps; it is between ThaiFriendly and the apps most of us have been using for years.
On Tinder or Bumble in Germany, Britain or the United States, an average-looking man in his thirties or forties gets a handful of matches a week, most of which never turn into a conversation, and is expected to do all the work. On ThaiFriendly in Pattaya the same man gets a full inbox, women who write first, and conversations that go somewhere the same day. The women are friendly, interested, and quick to reply.
Part of that is the platform design, part is Thai culture, and part, in Pattaya, is that a large share of the women have a commercial interest in talking to you. All three are true at once. The mistake visitors make is to credit the first two and ignore the third, and then feel cheated a week later. Go in knowing all three and ThaiFriendly is exactly what it appears to be.
Safety
ThaiFriendly itself is a legitimate, long-running business. The risks are in individual profiles, and they are the same ones that apply to every dating app in Thailand: romance scams that end with a sick relative and a request for money, crypto “investment” profiles run from scam compounds across the border, stolen photos, and, in Pattaya, the small number of freelancers who work with a partner or wait until you are asleep.
